Limestone

Limestone is referred to as limestone, a Carbonate rock mainly composed of Calcite. Sometimes it contains dolomite, clay minerals, and detrital minerals, with colors such as gray, gray white, gray black, yellow, light red, and brownish red, and generally not very hard

Limestone is mainly formed in shallow marine environments. Limestone can be divided into granular limestone (transported by flowing water and formed by sedimentation), biological skeleton limestone, and chemical and biochemical limestone according to their genesis.

 

According to structural structure, it can be subdivided into bamboo leaf shaped limestone, oolitic granular limestone, leopard skin limestone, block shaped limestone, etc. The main chemical composition of limestone is that CaCO3 is easy to dissolve, so stone forests and karst caves are often formed in limestone areas, called Karst. Limestone is the main raw material for firing lime and cement, and is a flux for iron and steel making.
